Room on the Broom
Room on the Broom, is an interactive walk-through attraction at the UK theme park Chessington World of Adventures and is based on a children’s book of the same name by renowned author Julia Donaldson.
The ride consists of several spaces that required a bit of technical magic and a touch of spatial imagination to work. The ride consists of several spaces that required a bit of technical magic and a touch of spatial imagination to work. BlueBox was approached by the creative team to help develop the audio visual, lighting and show control systems to bring this attraction to life.
Guests walk through the guests without a host the audio follows them through the journey as they move from room to room whilst giving subtle clues that it is time to move to the next space. Along with the narrative journey each room has interactive elements for the guests to engage with from fireflies that light up, and when hit the frog above them burbs a blast of air on them, to holes in a hay bail that play different SFX whilst you try to find the dogs bone. The journey culminates with guests helping the Witch and her friends make their broom and fly away after scaring off the Dragon. The BlueBox team oversaw the design, fit-out and commissioning of the project.
